About Gravel
Gravel is a natural unconsolidated material that was created by breaking up rock, processing individual particles (most often with water) and moving them. Gravel grains should range in size from 2 mm up to 256 mm. Gravel is often referred to as aggregate. Between the pieces of gravel, there are often small binder particles, the amount of which determines the quality of the gravel. The less their gravel contains, the more refined and processed it is.
According to the size of individual particles, gravel is divided into individual fractions. The most common fractions are 0-4 mm, 4-8 mm, 8-16 mm and more than 16 mm. Gravel is mined using tracked or wheeled excavators and is transported by a loader to the sorter's reservoir, which then sorts the individual gravel fractions. However, the occurrence of gravel is not so frequent and it also does not occur in all fractions.
Gravel is most often used in construction, which requires the finest possible fractions of gravel. Therefore, the excavated and sorted gravel is crushed into smaller fractions. After obtaining the required fractions, the gravel can be delivered to construction companies and other customers.
The company HT SH operates a gravel plant in Šarišské Michaľany, where we mine and produce gravel of various fractions. You can find the current list of offered gravel fractions as well as their current price in our price list.
