Gravel Plant
Heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, diggers, tipper trucks, crushers and material sorters play a major role in gravel mining and processing. Gravel is a natural unconsolidated material that was created by breaking up rock, processing individual particles (most often with water) and moving them. According to the size of individual particles, gravel is divided into individual fractions. The most common fractions are 0-4 mm, 4-8 mm, 8-16 mm, more than 16 mm.
In the Šarišská Michaľany gravel plant, gravel is mined on the surface using crawler excavators and is transported by a loader to the sorter's reservoir, which then sorts the individual gravel fractions. However, the occurrence of gravel is not so frequent and it also does not occur in all fractions. It is most often used in the construction industry for the production of concrete or mortar, for which the finest fractions of gravel are needed. Therefore, the excavated and sorted gravel is crushed into smaller fractions. After obtaining the required fractions, it can be delivered to construction companies and other customers.
